About The Friendship V

Friendship V, built in 1996, is the newest, most luxurious and fastest active
catamaran whale watcher in the U.S.A.! She is 112 feet long and 31
feet wide and has undergone a rigid U.S. Coast Guard inspection for
your safety. Equipped with the latest in navigation and communications
equipment and propelled by water jets.
Cruising at speeds up to 40 mph, we'll get to the whale grounds
first! We also keep in touch with off-shore
fisherman for recent sightings, and are proud to say that we have
the best sighting record of any Bar Harbor whale watching boat for
11 years running! We are one of the rare tour boats, approved by U.S.C.G.,
that can go out more than 20 miles past a harbor of safe refuge, with
all our passengers aboard.
| Whale watching is perhaps one
of the most exciting activities you may ever experience! You
will be amazed at these gentle yet awesome animals. Enjoy getting
to the whales aboard our high speed catamaran. We will provide
full informative and educational narration. Our naturalist will
point out whales and other wildlife that we may encounter including
seals, eagles, porpoises, dolphins, and a large variety of offshore
seabirds. You will come away from this trip both educated and
inspired. And... You will definitely want to come back for more!

Galley
For your enjoyment our well stocked galley offers a variety of hot
and cold foods such as steak and cheese, chicken breast, sandwiches,
soups and a full line of snacks; all food is prepared onboard. Breakfast
is offered on all morning cruises, so sleep in and we'll take care
of the rest. We sell cameras and film onboard. You may rent your binoculars
from the galley. Sorry, we do not allow alcoholic beverages to be
brought onboard due to state licensing, but we do offer a full service
bar.

has an advanced twin hull design that virtually eliminates the pitch
and roll problems associated with modern single hull craft. This super
stable, high tech design combined with vibration free jet powered
thrusters produces the effect of gliding over the ocean and allows
even the motion sensitive passenger to relax and enjoy all the exceptional
comforts and sights of this truly unique whale watching experience.
